1. The Aim of the Workshop

It has been five years since the official announcement of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013. In retrospect, the five-year development of the Belt and Road Initiative has got significant achievements, including the multilaterally beneficial cooperation among more countries and more people along the Belt and Road route, especially in areas like the infrastructure’s co-construction and co-sharing, international cooperation in production capacity, education exchanges, and etc.

However, we acknowledged that the development of the Belt and Road Initiative has also encountered some problems and facing challenges, including the environmental problems, political differences, religious belief, cultural differences and conflicts, in the development procedure, the institutional difference among different countries, and so on. The planned “International Workshop on Production Capacity Cooperation and Green Development within the Belt and Road Initiative” is to summarize the past experience, analyze the problems and challenges, and find the solutions, which may make useful suggestions to help a steady progress and development of the production capacity cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative.

The workshop is planning to invite renowned scholars from countries and regions like Russia, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Germany, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Japan, etc. The workshop will focus on and discuss the subjects including: infrastructure construction and financing, oversea industrial park problems, the effects of Chinese enterprises’ outflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the oversea industrial safety, the difficulties and obstacles in international cooperation in production capacity, the environmental-friendly development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
